Just wondering whether your lapvent can be installed on a traditional scottish roof. The particular property is around 110 years old, obviously timber truss and beam.
The slates are nailed directly to the boards i.e. my first thought is that the only way lapvent could be installed would be to cut through the boards to get some airflow (otherwise lapvent would be doing nothing). More importantly, this would instantly create a weak point - has this been done before? If so, I presume the boards were reinforced afterwards some how?
I think I've answered my own question, but would be grateful to hear if this has been done and/or if it is advisable?
